Of Two Lands has been on our radar for a while now. Based in Sydney, these Aussie Frenchies have nailed the whole #nofilter travel shots and have gained a bunch of awards to prove it. Not only do they have an instagram feed that can leave you scrolling for hours but they also create some pretty incredible films - que their Portrait of New Zealand’

As seasoned travelers to New Zealand, we caught up with them to ask about their recommendations for fellow travelers who haven’t yet been.

Tell us a little bit about yourselves… Your travels, how Of Two Lands came about, something fun! We love that you're a stationary collector, are we talking hotel pens or Kikki K style?

Of Two Lands was created by us in 2014 after our first trip together to New Zealand. We had so much photo content and wanted to share them with both friends and family, so we decided to create a Tumblr (which then needed a name). As we are literally from two different places (France / Australia), we thought the name ‘Of Two Lands’ was the perfect fit! As our Tumblr grew bigger and bigger, so did our brand.

We both each bring different things to the table. I, Florent have a love and background in film-making.

I, Amberly, studied Graphic design and have an illustration background. We both have a shared love of photography and travel and try to incorporate as many of these interests as possible. Whilst we were traveling and creating content before we met, we developed our style and skills further together.

Haha and yes, I, Amberly, do love stationery, more of the higher-end rather than stolen hotel pens haha.

What made you want to travel to NZ?

I, Florent, have always wanted to go to New Zealand since I was 12 years old watching 'The Lord of The Rings'. Until I went there, it was the number one on my list of places to visit.

I, Amberly, always had an interest, but was somewhat under the misguided impression that it was very similar to my home, Australia. So other destinations that I perceived to be more different, took priority.

New Zealand absolutely exceeded all expectations and is still probably our favourite place we have ever been.

What does your ultimate day in NZ look like?

Our ultimate day would start with an early morning flight at sunrise somewhere in the Southern Alps (such as Mt. Aspiring National Park). Then a packed picnic lunch by Lake Wanaka. We would then drive down through the Crown Range to Arrowtown to have an early afternoon stroll and tea / coffee in one of the cute cafe gardens. We would probably then drive back to Wanaka and do a late afternoon / early evening hike to catch the sunset on one of the many beautiful Mountain peaks.

Top 5 NZ recommendations?

1. Mt Cook area (for top hiking, such as the Hooker Valley track and views)

2. Wanaka (for pretty much everything that NZ has to offer - hiking and bike riding being two of our favourites)

3. Milford Sound (for the drive and the cruise

4. Scenic flights (pretty much anywhere but Mt Aspiring was one of our favourites)

5. Hobbiton (for any LOTR fans, we couldn't leave this out!)

We travel for landscape / experiences mostly so you can tell our favourite places are based on sight-seeing rather than restaurants and attractions

North or South island? Why?

South definitely however the North still has loads to offer (especially when it comes to Maori culture as well as geothermal landscapes and great cities)

We love the wildness of the South and how raw and untouched it feels.
